 Camp Weed Summer 2012

LEADER-IN-TRAINING PROGRAM

We believe that our Camp Weed leaders are among the best.  Many of them not only serve as camp counselors, but as youth leaders as well. The Camp Weed Leaders in Training (LIT) program is how we go about grooming, training, and equipping new young leaders. These young leaders will be equipped to not only lead at camp, but to lead in their parishes and youth groups.

Selected participants in this program will live at camp for two weeks and participate in a variety of training sessions.  These will include a Basic First Aid instruction and Safeguarding God's Children certification.  LITs will also spend time preparing devotions, gathering program ideas, learning about various characteristics of camper age groups, collecting games and rainy day activity ideas, learning songs and how to lead music, learning outdoor living skills, performing daily camp chores, and practicing leadership by working with campers and other staff members.  LITs will join with the Activity Leaders to be part of the Design Team that sets up and leads various all-camp programs.

Each applicant must be able to participate fully in the LIT program.

LITs will be selected from applicants who complete the application, pay a $50 deposit and attend Senior Session. These young leaders are expected to demonstrate a Christ led life and a dedication to serving the staff and campers at Camp Weed.  LITs will be selected to serve for up to two weeks.  This is not an extra "fun" week at camp, though you will find the experience rewarding and very much worth the hard work.

There will be a minimal fee for being a Leader-In-Training.  The LIT camp cost for the various training classes, room, and board is $100 per week (minus the $50 deposit) for the training.  Camp Weed will cover the remaining expenses of the program.  If you are not selected to participate in the LIT program, the $50 deposit will be returned.

You are encouraged to apply as early as possible.  A maximum of 8 LITs will be selected for each of the three LIT sessions.  LIT applications may be downloaded from the link "Leader-In-Training".
